Why I Am Running

I am an agent for change and my platform is one that promotes change by putting community “Back In” policing. I do believe in, and I am an advocate for community policing as a model for law enforcement. Spending more quality time in the communities, getting to know the constituents and the challenges they face will aid in understanding how to make the communities safe, and restore trust with the citizens.

My vision is to develop a "community policing" organization where police and the public become active allies in the effort to enhance the safety and quality of life in the neighborhoods. I am running for this office because as the Constable, I am seeking to lead a team of positive change, where even in the serving of warrants, civil and criminal summons, and subpoenas, executing and returning writs of possession (evictions), people are still treated with respect and dignity.

Some of my plans are:

  • Implementing strategies and training that will build back the trust and respect of those enforcing the laws of the land;
  • Developing, implementing, and sustaining community involvement to help keep communities safe;
  • Building programs that make the department sensitive to the needs of individuals in crisis mode (mental health issues);
  • Holding my team accountable for all aspects of enforcement, de-escalation, and peace keeping procedures throughout the community that we will be serving.

Top Priorities When Elected

  • Keeping the community involved and engaged - If we want great things from our community, we must educate and empower.
  • Building Trust (bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community) - Creating a forum that facilitates conversations and learning between residents and police. Success depends on how we treat our communities and how citizens treat law enforcement.
  • Engaging with our youth - Create positive interactions between law enforcement officers and students in schools and within the community and partnering with local businesses/organizations to implement internship programs, after-school programs, and mentoring programs.
  • Partnering with community resources to aid families - Since the Pandemic, evictions have increased. I am committed to collaborating with community resources that will aid families who are being evicted from their homes.
  • Better education and communication - I will educate the community about issues and provide them with solutions before the courts get involved.
  • Improve communication with Precinct 2 - I am committed to sending out informative newsletters, hosting town hall meetings and community seminars, social media advertisements, radio broadcastings, and other means of communication.
